Curated by Beatrice Avanzi and Denis Isaia.
Mart, Rovereto
2021 An exhibition conceived by the president of the MART in ROVERETO Vittorio Sgarbi and curated by Beatrice Avanzi and Denis Isaia, on the occasion of the second centenary of his death, celebrates the legacy of one of the greatest masters of sculpture of all time: Antonio Canova (1757–1822). A show in which a body of works by the leading sculptor of Neoclassicism engages in dialogue with contemporary artists, exploring the relevance of his work from photography to the most recent sculptural experiences, highlighting links, continuities and contrasts. The theme of the dialogue is the body and its many expressions of beauty.
Institutional exhibition that brought into dialogue the Neoclassicism of CANOVA and the historical avant-gardes, HELMUT NEWTON, ROBERT MAPPLETHORPE, IRVING PENN, up to the contemporary, IGOR MITORAJ, ELENA MUTINELLI AND FABIO VIALE and the photographers who captured the imperfect body MIROSLAV TICHÝ; JAN SAUDEK, JOEL-PETER WITKIN, DINO PEDRIALI and those who mythologized Canova’s work itself, from ALINARI TO LUIGI SPINA, UP TO MUSTAFA SABBAGH.

"ESSENTIALLY THE HAND"
Curated by A. Pluchinotta, R. Bassetto and A. Sndonà, Padua, Piano Nobile Caffè Pedrocchi, 2012. An exhibition of sculptures by international artists who, throughout the 20th century, took the hand as an inspiring theme in its various expressive and symbolic forms. Works by Elena Mutinelli, Rodin, Picasso, Mirò, Dalì, Breton, up to the more recent César, Finotti and Paladino, to name just a few among the many great artists featured in the exhibition...
In classical and modern art, the depiction of hands and gestures is often meant to express the complexity of human thought and feelings, translated into a wide range of attitudes. Elena Mutinelli, a contemporary artist, will exhibit several times, following this major show, alongside the great artists in the panorama of international sculpture history.
